Frequently asked questions

What is an attachment style?

It's the pattern you default to in close relationships: how much closeness feels good, what you do when you feel unsure of someone, and how you ask for (or avoid asking for) reassurance. This test sorts your answers into Secure, Anxious-Preoccupied, Avoidant-Independent or Balanced — four common patterns, none of them a diagnosis or a life sentence.

Can your attachment style change?

Yes — patterns like these are habits of relating, not fixed traits. They shift with experience, with different partners, and with deliberately practicing the opposite move (asking directly instead of going quiet, for example). The deep report's blind-spots section names the specific habit your pattern tends to hide, which is usually the most useful place to start.

Is this the same as a clinical attachment assessment?

No. It's a short self-discovery quiz inspired by the same ideas, written for reflection and entertainment. It doesn't diagnose anything, and if questions about relationships are causing you real distress, a qualified professional will help far more than any quiz.
