What this test is about

Answer 12 questions about the situation as it really runs: the (missing) title, the plans horizon, who initiates, what your friends get told, and how long this 'temporary' arrangement has been on the books. Each answer scores 0–3 points; your total maps to a level from 1 to 10, from Already Promoted to the Permanent Intern.

What's free, and what's deeper

Free: Your Situationship level and the first two sections of your report — the level reading and the evidence from your own answers.

Go deeper: The Deep Dive ($2.99) unlocks your pattern in depth: the terms of this arrangement as your answers describe them, what the internship is quietly costing or giving you, and the observational notes an honest HR department would file. No verdicts — whether to hand in notice is yours.

Frequently asked questions

What's the internship joke?

The internet's running gag about situationships: all the duties of the job — the time, the loyalty, the emotional labour — with none of the title, the contract or the promotion path. Like an internship that's gone on seven months. This test leans into the metaphor because it's painfully accurate, and because laughing at the org chart is easier than crying in the group chat.

Is a situationship always a bad thing?

No — some are honest, mutual, low-pressure arrangements that suit both people exactly. The levels here read the terms, not the morality: a clear-eyed Level 4 contract can be healthier than a titled relationship running on Level 9 terms. What the report won't do is tell you to stay or go; it files the observations and leaves the decision to you.

How is this different from the Backup Plan test?

Different chair in the same office. The Backup Plan test asks whether you're someone's plan B — kept warm in case the first choice falls through. The Situationship Test reads the arrangement itself: its title (or lack of one), its timeline, and whether the 'temporary' contract keeps getting quietly renewed.
