What this test is about

Answer 12 questions about your nights: the memories that visit, the messages you draft and delete, the songs that find you. Each answer scores 0–3 points; your total maps to a Late-Night Emo Index from Level 1 to 10.

What's free, and what's deeper

Free: Your Emo Index level and the first two sections of your report — the level reading and tonight's evidence.

Go deeper: The Deep Dive ($2.99) unlocks what your midnight mind is actually processing, the costs of your current night pattern, and a gentler wind-down plan that respects the feelings instead of just banning the phone.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I get so emotional at night?

You're not imagining the shift: at night the distractions stop, tiredness lowers your emotional defences, and your brain finally processes the day — plus everything it filed under 'later' for the past decade. This test measures how strong that midnight effect is for you, from people asleep before their head lands (Level 1) to the Dean of the Midnight Philosophy Department (Level 10).

Why do old memories and exes come back at 1 a.m.?

Because the night shift has no new input, it replays the archive — and unfinished stories replay loudest. Several questions in the test check exactly which archive visits you: nostalgia, regret, what-ifs, or simple loneliness. Your report's reading names the pattern, and the deep version looks at what those visits are usually asking for.

Is a high emo index unhealthy?

Not by itself. A rich night mind is also where a lot of people do their honest thinking and their best writing. It deserves attention only when it regularly eats your sleep or leaves you wrecked the next day — the deep report's wind-down plan is built for that case, and it's about timing the feelings, not suppressing them. Nothing here is a medical assessment; if nights are genuinely rough for a long stretch, a professional beats a quiz.
